#PatchSaturday is a go!
When I started doing this, I did not believe how many things are released over a week.
#PatchSaturday is a go!
When I started doing this, I did not believe how many things are released over a week.
So I recently used a #sledgehammer where a #scalpel was needed.
I've got an #HP DL80 Gen9 with the iLO license, but without the #FlexibleLOM card... so to access the iLO I have to have an ethernet cable plugged into the first ethernet port.
Problem is, no matter what I tried in #Webmin or #NetworkManager, every reboot would re-enable that port... which would then get a IP via DHCP (even when I'd disabled it in nm...), which would mean #Zabbix would pick it up as a client and add it.. meaning every time a disk got a little "backed up", I'd get two alerts, and this machine has 12 very old SATA drives in it.
Tired of messing with the damned thing, I finally got out the sledgehammer....
....and blacklisted HP's #OUI from the #DHCP server.
No IP, no extra client created in Zabbix, and only the normally-annoying amount of alerts.
I'll #fsck with it for real, later...
Edit: Ich habe Kontakt zu 4 wunderbaren Menschen, die mir helfen können. Danke an alle!
Ich suche eine helfende Hand für meine #IT Firma @feinste_netzwerke in #Erkrath #Dusseldorf als #Nebenjob für die Abendstunden. The #Windows MSI installer for #Zabbix 7 requires VBScript be installed on the system. Ok then. Well, the feature is deprecated so that workflow will need to be modified. #Server2025
After updating #Zabbix to 7.2 it was finally time to deal with some technical debt. Transitioned all leftover agants v1 to v2, consolidated the hosts, and updated all the templates.
Most data survived fine but now I need to update half of my dashboards.
Job for some other day.
Zabbix 7.2 was released a few days ago.
Any feature/improvement you are excited about?

So I am looking for a monitoring system with lowest hardware requirements to run on RPi B+ (single armv6hf core and 512Mb RAM) and monitor home network.
Things tried so far:
1. #Zabbix -- great tool but the server is almost unusable on devices this weak
2. #LibreNMS looks promissing but still somewhat slow on RPi since it is #PHP+#MySQL app. Can work as a syslog server too.
Things to try:
1. #munin -- probably the lowest hw requirements
Running "modern" stuff like Prometheus+Graphana is out of the scope of course.
UPD: replaced "monit" with "munin" because it is what I originally meant. Thanks @blotza for the suggestion!
Oh ça m'agace :
Grafana + zabbix + dasboards = je veux afficher le nombre de VM qui affichent plus de 70% d'espace disque occupé.
J'arrive à faire un graph tout pourri mais pas à afficher un 12, ou 43, ou 3....
Followed this blog post to setup #kubernetes monitoring using #Zabbix and the amount of information it is capturing is overwhelming. On my 4 node k3s setup it is capturing over 170 items a second between host information and cluster state.

Trying to solidify some #Zabbix knowledge today following training last week. Good distraction from… well, you know.
Badly missing in Zabbix:
Pre-processing with Perl.
The #s390x open source team at IBM confirms the latest versions of various software packages run well on #Linux on #IBMZ & #LinuxONE
In July of 2024 validation was maintained for over 30 projects, including: #Logstash, the #R programming language & #zabbix
In the community, the bootc and Kueue projects both added s390x support to their respective CI systems
#Zabbix is an incredibly powerful system and network monitoring tool that's #opensource, #selfhosted, and #awesome! We learn to install it, the agent, and how to use #Ansible to setup multiple agents at once! https://youtu.be/piVIj8UPLFI
Soo many broken dashboards after updating Zabbix templates to v7.
Guess what I'll be doing today?
Good news!
I've just commited #Zabbix 7.0 into #FreeBSD ports (https://www.freshports.org/net-mgmt/zabbix7-server/)
Do not hesitate to test and report back any eventual wrinkles.
