I am blown away by the results I got from testing SeaweedFS to copy small files 4.8GB (45651 files) via s3.

When compared with Minio it really shows.

Using HDD:
SeaweedFS: 3m28.9s
Minio: 14m15.9s

Using NVMe:
SeaweedFS: 15.5s
Minio: 21.8s

Anyone tried SeaweedFS https://github.com/chrislusf/seaweedfs and have any experience or feedback to share? Thanks

Any suggestions of good and affordable ‘pay as you go’ alternatives to MailGun for transactional email?

I just spent some time looking at server buying+collocation vs rental for a server with an 8c/16t CPU, 128 RAM and 2x1TB NVMe.

Rental: €120/month
Buy: ~€3000 + €50/month collocation.

Cost after 5 year:
Rental: €7200
Buy+Collocation: €6000
If asking for credit to pay the server over 5 years: €7500

So, only profitable with cash at hand or if you use the server for more than 5 years (obviously doable but hard to make 5 year decisions in tech).

After you generate the csv go to 'Account->Import and export->Import' and upload the csv. That will follow everyone from the Trunk categories you chosen.

If you have just installed Mastodon and don't know where to start to find people to follow a good idea is to try and check other users follows and one by one try to see if you find someone to follow.

Alternatively you can go to https://communitywiki.org/trunk and do the same on the categories that interest you.

If you are lazy and don't want to look up one by one, I created a little script to generate a csv from Trunk categories: https://hugo.gameiro.pt/trunk-to-csv/ that you can then import in Mastodon.

I activated App Privacy Report on iOS a couple of hours ago.

I checked it now and this app (Forza Football) that I opened twice since then has send request to 60 different domains.

Highly recommend https://obsidian.md/ for note taking, brain dumps, writing, second brain, code snippet storage, personal diary and so on.

The local storage system in markdown is the right solution for something so personal and one would never guess how simple the storage is just by using the app interface.

The more I use it the more I love it.
