According to Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluetooth the Bluetooth name comes from the name of 10th-century Danish king 'Harald Bluetooth'.
Like most kings, this one probably dreamed of having future generations knowing his name.
Still, there is no way he could have ever thought that his name would become a synonym for a frustrating way to connect devices.
@hugo They say King Bluetooth united several kingdoms and as frustrating a way to connect devices as Bluetooth is, it still united a bunch of “kingdoms” as there were multiple competing “PAN” (personal area network) standards. We can feel at least somewhat fortunate that in all the headaches of connecting devices with Bluetooth, it’s just one standard and not a different wireless standard for every phone manufacturer like existed before Bluetooth
