This SGX paper from May 2017 titled “Leaky Cauldron” describes how TLBs are shared between Hyperthreads (section 4.1): “Further we found that when HyperThreading is turned on for a processor, we can clear up the TLBs without issuing TLB shootdown”.
It also contains a systematic analysis of The susceptibility of Intel SGX to memory side-channels.

I thought I could change my username. oh well. such is life.
In my everyday world, I am the one most bothered by privacy and security issues, by the annoying things that the bad social networks do, etc. So when it comes to these topics, I am the grumpiest one.
Here on Mastodon there are people who are even more annoyed by these things. So I am no longer the grumpiest one!
Thanks for making me feel a little more normal, Mastodon.
Yes, RMS had been a bit dogmatic about his take on the #glibc issue. Come on, that man is a saint in the present world. He holds his ideals high. He stand for his ethics. Give him some space. Of he wants that joke to stay, let it. After all his contributions he is asking a bit of status quo. Please, let him have it

Remember what Stallman did ~30 years ago when proprietary software dominated, he didn't recommended abstinence he came up with a positive answer aka Free Software. We need to do the same with today's evolving technology (cloud, saas, IoT, whatever). Ignoring it will change nothing we have to get engaged and shape it in a freedom and privacy respecting way.

Okay, this mastodon thing seems neat. It actually looks like there are real people communicating—not just bots and bored PR guys.
I'm pretty sure this happens to any awesome space, if that place doesn't die first.
When I joined Twitter on Halloween 2008 it was a pretty wild place. There were NO brands on it, no news agencies with twitter accounts, and most people just new it as that weird 140 character thing, and mocked it as who could say anything in 140 characters?
Then in September, 1993 AOL started giving everyone Usenet access. The number of new users was greater then people's ability to teach them how things worked, to be polite and whatnot. It was a flood of new, rude, users forever.
Thus Eternal September.
@nick They're not wrong to point out that browser vendors have their own motivations for supporting PWAs. If the end result is an interoperable, standards-based app format that every major OS and browser supports though… then I'm on board. 😁
@Alonealastalovedalongthe Yeah basically this is just an effort to make things like Cordova or Electron obsolete (or less necessary). When folks build a website and then wrap it in a "native" app merely to get 1) an app icon, and 2) Alt-Tab, that's a missed opportunity for the web.
moved back to using chrome on mobile, firefox is just too unstable and aggravating
why is it that i have to choose between corporate tech that works well but is paranoia-inducing and open source/free tech that is perhaps more trustworthy but doesn't work/isn't very nice to use

I'm slumping on funds at the moment - if anyone wants some digital art commissioned (/boosts this post) you'd be helping me out financially/mentally a hell of a lot.
Ones with a B/G (like these) $60
Full figures $40
Busts $30
It'd be great fun to interpret people's OC's/RP characters! But open to portraits/fanart etc.
